Space A Travel, or the Space Available Flights Benefit, is uniquely available to military servicemembers, retires, and their families. This program allows eligible passengers to fill empty seats on US Military aircrafts after all the active duty passengers and cargo have been accounted for. Traveling via the Space A program is much less expensive than traveling with commercial airlines.
It is important to note that the benefit only covers transportation. Passengers are responsible for covering the cost of meals, lodging, and other incidentals associated with air travel. Travel plans can be made up to two months before the desired date of departure, but space is never guaranteed.

How to Apply
There can be Space Available flights at practically any US Air Force, Army, Marines, or Navy airfield, so contact your local airfield to determine if they participate in the Space A Travel Program. If not, they will be able to tell you where the closet Air Mobility Command (AMC) Passenger Terminal is located, and they will be able to help you.
The process for making flight arrangements will vary from one air terminal to another. However, all passengers must register for travel in the AMC Passenger Terminal at a Passenger Service Center. Travelers will be expected to present documents such as identification cards, visas, passports, and immunization records when registering for a flight.
Upon registration, travelers are assigned a travel category and will compete for seats in that category based on the date and time of registration. Flight requests are processed on a first come, first served basis. Once registered, passengers can review their reservation status online or by phone.
