College credit is awarded by many colleges and universities to students in the military. Credits can be used towards a degree and are based on training, coursework, or occupational specialty. Different programs, such as the DANTES Military Evaluation Program, can help determine the amount and level of academic credit that you can be awarded for your experience in the military.
Am I Eligible?
To determine if you are eligible to receive college credit for your time in the military, you will need to obtain and review your military transcript. Military transcripts are available to document American Council on Education (ACE) recommended college credit for military training and occupational experience. You can request your transcript through these organizations, depending on your service branch:
- Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART)
- Army American Council on Education Registry Transcript Service (AARTS)
- Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)
- U.S. Coast Guard Institute (CGI)
