Veterans Education Assistance Program
The VEAP program is another way to raise funds for your college education. When you elect to contribute money from your military pay checks to the VEAP program, the government will match your contributions on a $2 for $1 basis. The money you raise can be used to pay for degree, certificate, correspondence, apprenticeship and vocational training programs.
You have 10 years after your release from active duty to use VEAP program benefits. Funding will cover 1 to 36 months of tuition expenses depending on the amount and frequency of your contributions.
Am I Eligible?
To receive VEAP benefits you must meet these requirements:
- Entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985
- Opened a contribution account before April 1, 1987
- Voluntarily contributed from $25 to $2,700
- Completed your first period of service
- Honorably discharged
The funding available through the VEAP program can only be used for programs approved for VA training.
